Book Clubs in Haumia-Tiketike.

For the past week or so our class had been assigned to certain books and groups, we got put into a group of 4, in my group there is only Amahri, Jade and myself , the book we are reading is called "Gumdigger", Gumdigger is about a family from the early 1800's they were brought up in Whangarei. We have to read a certain amount of pages to finish our book by the end of the month. At the moment we need to read 14 and a half pages each day. Once we finish our reading we have a discussion ticket and a booklet with different jobs each day we need to finish before we go out to break.

Maths In Tangaroa ( Finding The Area & The Volume Of A Circle & A Triangle)

Today in tangaroa we had a test , we has to get 18/20 points to pass if not then we had to do it again.

For my test I got 20/20 but i think i really got through it cos i had a calculator so i need to work on that.

The hardest thing for me was reading the question properly,

Next time i need to take my time to read the question so i can get it completely right.

The test was mostly large decimal numbers , which was harder for me.

:This is my test.

Finding The Area Of A Triangle.

This week we learnt how to find the area of a triangle.

To find the area of a triangle you need to half the base times the height ( 1/2 B x H )

For example this is what it would look like:

You have to remember that you have to write in the units of measure to tell it apart from area

and length.

Finding The Area Of A Circle.

This week we learnt how to find the area of a circle,

To fine the area of a circle you need to do pie times radius times radius ( Pie x R x R )

For example here's what it should look like:

Finding The Area.

This week in Nogo's math class we learnt how to find the area ,

To find the area you need to multiply the length by the width A = l x w

For example here's a picture down below:

Maths-Circumference

Finding a circumference of a circle using pi which 3.14

Today we had maths with Nogo

We had to find the circumference of a circle I found out that 12 and 3/4 steps of my steps is the circumference of the circle. My feet length was 4 feet length = 1 metre. Then I converted my 12 and 3/4 steps into metres which came to 3 and 3/4 metres. I multiplied 3.75metres x 3.14

Everyone had varying feet lengths so answers will be different.

What made it harder was that I didn't have my shoes on so it made it difficult to measure. The formula is

Circumference = pi x diameter

                         =3.14 x 3.75 metres

                         =11.78 metres as the circumference.

My Maths Learning.

Today Nogos in maths we learnt how about getting the total amount of Area (L x W) , Perimeter ( L + W)  and volume (L x W x H)  we also learnt how to split shapes into 2 or more solid shapes (area 1 and area 2)

The hardest thing for me was remembering how to split into 2 areas and finding the amount.

Winter Sport - Year 7 & 8 Netball.

Last Friday the year 7 & 8's had our first netball game , we versed South Newbrightons A team and came out with the win ( 26- 14 ) . Our team had very good defence but maybe next time we could work on driving for the ball . My positions for the day were Goal Keep , Centre and Wing Attack and my favourite position would've been Centre , I am looking forward to the rest of the season because our team is one of the best teams I have played with and i'm looking forward to where our team will lead.

Measuring My Foot Against a 1 Metre Ruler

Today in Nogo's math class Mailli and I compared the length of our feet against a one metre ruler,
I used my feet to measure against a one metre ruler,

I found that it was 4 feet lengths altogether for one metre

Mailli and I found out the the length of the basketball court is 31 feet length and the width is 16 feet length.
